The story behind Thistle & Ink Art
Thistle & Ink Art was born during one of the most challenging chapters of my life. When my husband suffered a brain haemorrhage that left him paralysed, our lives changed overnight. As he began his long journey through hospital treatment and rehabilitation, I found myself spending countless hours by his side, searching for a way to process the heartbreak, uncertainty, and overwhelming emotions that came with it. Art became that place. Creating digital artwork gave me somewhere to channel my thoughts, preserve memories, and find moments of calm when life felt anything but calm. What began as a personal escape soon became a source of comfort and purpose. Friends and family encouraged me to share my artwork online, and their support inspired me to create Thistle & Ink Art. Today, every collection reflects something I love—Scotland, music, nostalgia, inspiration, and the stories that connect us. Every print is created with care because I know that art can truly transform a space and lift a spirit.
My passion for creation
What I love most about creating art is the ability to turn memories, emotions, and ideas into something people can enjoy every day. There's something incredibly rewarding about starting with a simple idea and watching it grow into a piece that tells a story or brings back a special memory. Creating art also became a source of comfort during one of the most difficult times in my life. It gave me a positive outlet, a sense of purpose, and moments of calm when everything else felt uncertain. That experience continues to inspire every collection I create. My hope is that each print makes someone feel something—whether it's a smile from remembering childhood in Glasgow, the excitement of hearing a favourite song, pride in Scottish heritage, or comfort from an inspirational message. I want my artwork to brighten a room, spark conversations, and become something people genuinely enjoy living with.
